Job Description

The position involves preparation of bench memos based upon the clerk’s review of the parties’ briefs, the record on appeal, and independent research. The successful candidate must be a graduate of an accredited U.S. law school with very good academic achievement, the ability to analyze and research civil and criminal matters, excellent writing skills including working knowledge of Blue Book and similar citation formulas, together with a demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team while meeting deadlines for completion of work. Membership in the Florida Bar is desired, but not required. The duties may be performed at the court in Daytona Beach, Florida, remotely via secure linked technology, or in a hybrid combination of in person and remote.

Education and Training Guidelines

Graduation from an accredited law school.

Graduation from an accredited U.S. law school with very good academic achievement. Senior level requires two years Florida Bar membership along with two years’ experience as a Staff Attorney, two years practice of law, or a combination of experience as a Staff Attorney and in the practice of law. Experience in the practice of law must be subsequent to admission to the Florida Bar. Career level requires five years of experience and five-year Florida Bar membership.

Special Comments

Salary range $65,904 to $84,070 depending on experience.
